When people have a work-related injury, Work Safe BC (WSBC) helps them get the health care and rehabilitation services they need. This may include consultation and treatment with a physiotherapist. Vancity Physiotherapy offers in-person and virtual rehabilitation to help you recover from work-related injuries.
So what steps do you need to take? Read on to find out more.
Step 1: File a Claim
File a claim by calling Teleclaim @ 1-888-WORKERS (1.888.967.5377). Once WorkSafe receives a report of a work-related injury, they gather information from the worker, the employer, and the health care provider. At this point, you will receive a claim number. They usually provide a decision on whether a claim is accepted within an average of 10 days.
Once you have your claim number, you can get in contact with a trusted physiotherapist/health professional of your choice to receive your initial consultation immediately. We also recommend a visit to your GP as they can chart your symptoms and provide you guidance in the process alongside your physiotherapist.
Step 2: Receive Benefits and Services for Accepted Claims
Once a claim is accepted with WorkSafeBC, they will pay accepted medical
expenses (also referred to as health care benefits) and wage-loss benefits, plus any necessary vocational rehabilitation services, to return you to a productive life.
Step 3: Book your Physio Appointment for an Initial Assessment (paid by WSBC)
Get in touch with us! We are open for bookings Mon-Fri 7 am-7 pm and Saturday 8 am-2 pm (PST). We also offer complimentary 20 min virtual assessments.
Step 4: Follow up Treatment Care Plan (6-8 weeks, all paid by WSBC)
After your initial assessment, a treatment plan will be developed and delivered within the course of 6-8 weeks. This includes 1-2 sessions per week which include hands-on and virtual treatment, interactive exercise prescription program, and any support you need to get you back on your feet.
Step 5: Ongoing Treatment that helps your Recovery!
We will advocate for you and your rehabilitation, talking directly to the case manager assigned to you claim so that you can focus on getting better, while we take care of everything else...(With no out-of-pocket cost!) We offer direct billing to WorkSafe BC, so no worries there!
