What does a Running Assessment with Vancity Physio look like?

Running is one of the most popular physical activities enjoyed by people around the world, and the number of runners has grown substantially year over year. People are seeking a healthier lifestyle through fitness, weight control, muscle strength and improved exercise capacity frequently choose running, as this has been considered to be of low cost and can be easily implemented. However, with any form of physical exercise, comes risk of injury. Yearly the annual prevalence has been shown to be between 37% and 56% by a systematic review in 2012.

We’re proud to introduce our newest, and most updated version of our Running Assessments, which includes use of AI-powered running software to assist us in providing you with the most comprehensive guidance with you running goals.

    HOW IT WORKS

    Our initial assessment with include a thorough interview to learn and understand your personal journey with running, regardless of your running experience, whether new, novice or highly experienced.

    Followed by a screening of your individual joints which may be relevant to you, we put you through a battery of tests to create a picture of how you run.

    At Vancity physio, we’re simplifying the use of technology. With runEasi – we can catch things you can’t see. Simply put, you don’t’ need to be an elite athlete to receive industry leading guidance and care. You don’t need to be in a university lab with scientists and 3D cameras.

    We’re utilising research backed, evidence based technology as part of your personal running assessment. Using a high end, AI based sensor that attaches securely to your sacrum, we can reliably measure impact on your body and how your body responds to that impact. Wireless transmission means you can display your data in real-time on our tablet and provide summary reports based on your performance. Embedded processing allow you to capture remotely up to 2 hours.

    • One on one, 60 minute assessment
    • A consultation to discuss your needs, goals, journey with running and injuries
    • A physical assessment and screening
    • Introduction to RunEasi technology and testing
    • Run testing on our Landice treadmill
    • A tailored exercise program for your specific needs based on the assessment results
    • Post run consultation and feedback

    HOW TO PREPARE

    Bring your running shoes, a water bottle, towel, and all running apparel to assist us with our assessment.
    Water and towels are also provided.

    POST-SESSION

    Your physiotherapist will provide you with a management plan moving forward relevant to your personal goals, and what specific interventions will be most beneficial moving forward.

    To book, please select RUN Physiotherapy from our online booking platform. To maximize your session’s value, and take advantage of our diverse treatment options, fees are inclusive of all treatment modalities used during your session.

    Tim Fung

    Physiotherapist

    Tim completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology from Simon Fraser University and a Master of Physiotherapy Degree from the University of Sydney.

    Tim has extensive experience working with a wide range of individuals including youth, working professionals, recreational/semi-professional athletes and weekend warriors.

    Tim has additional training and specialization in the following skills: sports injury management, running injuries/running and treadmill assessments, office/workplace injury management, repetitive overuse injuries, injury prevention technique, functional reconditioning, and personalized, tailored exercise prescription.

    Jennifer Chew

    Physiotherapist

    Jennifer Chew is a Registered Physiotherapist who graduated from UBC with a Masters of Physical Therapy. Along with her physiotherapy degree, Jennifer also has a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from McGill as well as a Masters of Exercise Science and Health Promotion from the California University of Pennsylvania.

    In addition to her clinical experience as a physiotherapist, Jennifer has more than a decades-worth of personal training experience and it was personal training that initially got her started into developing a passion for pursuing further education in rehabilitation.

    Jennifer uses evidence-based practice and uses her expertise in exercise, strength and conditioning in combination with manual therapy and other treatment modalities to empower her clients to return to their healthy and injury-free life.

    Jennifer is also fluent in Cantonese and is proficient in Mandarin.
